Reduce Climate change-induced risks & vulnerabilities from glacial lake outbursts in Punakha-wangdi and Chamkhar Valleys
Background
This project will take the National Action Plan for Adaptation to Climate Change (NAPA) process a step further by translating the NAPA project concepts into ground reality and developing the capacity of the Royal Government of Bhutan and Local Communities to adapt to the vulnerabilities related to climate change.
Objectives
The objective for this PDF-B project is “Hazard Zonation and Early Warning System Assessment for GLOF vulnerable areas of Punakha-Wangdue and Chamkhar Valley Areas”
Achievements & expected results
- Hazard Zonation and Vulnerability assessment for Chamkhar Valley completed.
- EWS assessment completed
- EWS sites identified
Draft of Full Scale Proposal developed and shared with UNDP/GEF for feedbacks.
