Preparatory Assistance for Disaster Management
Background
The project will undertake a study of the existing system of disaster management in Bhutan and draft a disaster management strategy for the country.
It will also create a better understanding of the disaster management needs in Bhutan and identify roles and responsibilities of each organization involved in disaster management in the country.
Objectives
The project aims to study existing capacity for disaster management within the country and assess what direction disaster management in Bhutan could take.
Achievements & expected results
- Developed the National Disaster Risk Management Framework for the country which was launched in 2006.
- Initiated implementation of the strategy in Phuentsholing
