ICT for Good Governance
Background
In Bhutan, the landscape is itself the first and formidable challenge to development. The introduction and development of e-governance systems hence play a big role in service provision from the government to the people, especially people living in rural areas of Bhutan.
The Bhutan ICT Policy and Strategies (BIPS) from July 2004 states that “ICT for good governance” is one of the Royal Governments key ICT policy objectives and it has been reorganized so that good governance can be strengthened considerably through the use of ICT especially regarding access to information, hence strengthening the service delivery from the government to women and men in Bhutan’s rural areas.
