Bhutan has made impressive progress towards ensuring gender equity in education. Girls’ enrolment as a percentage of the total school enrolment is about 50%, at primary and secondary education level in 2009. Even at the higher secondary level, the enrolment of girls has been increasing steadily over the years. The girl’s enrolment in the Secondary education had increased from 45 in 2002 to 49.6 percent in 2009 with the increase of 4.6% since 2002.    The achievement of complete gender parity at primary and secondary level has been achieved in 2009. However, attainment of gender parity at tertiary education by 2015 is required more attention. The under representation of women in the Parliament and weak participation in national decision making process also need attention to reach gender equality in 2015.
